Good day, all! Thursday is blog day, and today we’re announcing an awesome competition that will run through the month of November, with the winner being announced on Thursday December 5th, 2019. Entries will close on Tuesday December 3rd, 2019. As you know, Rose created an awesome little character known as Banjo. Banjo is an orangutan character, chosen mostly because their teeth are very similar to humans’ teeth, and because they are just so amazingly cute! In the series, Banjo finds himself facing challenges when it comes to taking care of his teeth; the same challenges that most kids around the world face. Coming to his rescue is the Superhero Dentist, who always saves him from his dilemma with good advice. The portrayal of the Dentist being a superhero is indeed quite appropriate – after all, what would humans do if dentists did not exist? The series is great for little ones, and allows them to see dental procedures and dentists themselves in a whole new light. There are to be six books released in this series, with two having already been released and the third in production at present – with aim of coming to you in January, 2020. With Christmas around the corner, Rose decided a giveaway competition would be a great way to get into the spirit of giving. And so, here are the details for the ‘Banjo Giveaway Competition’. How to enter: 1 – like Rose’s author page on either Facebook or Twitter. 2 – follow this link to Rose’s competition page on her website. 3 – answer one simple question: what is the name of Rose’s cute orangutan character? 4 – use the form to send us your contact details, should you be the winner or runner-up. What will you win? First prize: a wrap-around Banjo plushy, eight-inches in size and oh so adorable! He will be sent directly to your home – best you make a space for him in your room somewhere! Second runner-up: a paperback copy of Rose’s first book in the Tales of Banjo and the Superhero Dentist series – Excited Banjo meets the Superhero Dentist. Third runner-up: an eBook copy of Excited Banjo meets the Superhero Dentist. When will the winners be announced?
Entries close on December 3rd, 2019, with the winners being announced on December 5th, 2019. Please note: Rose Wadenya Author will keep the contact details of all entrants private, and has no intention of sharing this information with any third party. Indeed I am as excited about this competition as Rose is, and we’re both sure you’re pretty excited about it, too! If you have any questions, you can send me an email via my page on Rose’s website; I’d be happy to answer. Until next week, have a super weekend ahead! Keep smiling, stay magical, Sasha ~

Happy Thursday, all! It’s blog day today, and we’ve decided to give you a helping hand when it comes to ideas on ways to reduce your carbon footprint. As a fairy, I tend to worry about what will happen to my beautiful planet in the future. Nearly all of Rose’s books focus on nature to help tell the story. Without nature what would humanity be? I don’t like the idea of robots taking over. I know there are many people doing their best to help other people to help the planet. But although a lot of people are trying, we really need everyone to try! So, here’s a list of a few things you can easily do in your daily life to make a difference. 1 – Avoid purchasing anything that cannot be recycled. Always check your labels for the recycle logo. 2 – Make your own lunch! Drive-thru and fast-food franchises are perhaps the biggest industries contributing to climate-change-related problems on our planet. 3 – Be healthy. Choose snacks that do not use palm-oil, or at least those with a ‘sustainable palm-oil’ stamp of approval. Get involved with animal and environmental orgs as often as you can, even if you can only tell your friends about the good work that they do. 4 – Every time you walk in nature or on the beach, be sure to take a bag with you to collect any rubbish you find. Even if you only collect a small amount, you will have prevented the effects of that amount from affecting the environment. 5 – Plant more trees to help reduce the amount of carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere, thus bringing atmospheric gases back into balance. 6 – Spend more time in nature. You are not a robot; you have not been born to look at a screen all day. Be a Human Being, at one with nature around you as you should be. 7 – Stop using poisonous herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers in your garden or around your home. They are deadly for more than just bugs. 8 – Use less electricity. Switch off appliances when you’re not using them. This can lessen the amount of coal that needs to burn in order to produce electricity. 9 – When you need to give someone a gift, consider supporting your local crafters or choose to make a gift from recycled items. Should someone feel your gift is not good enough, give them this article to read! 10 – Kids, stop asking your parents for fancy devices! A lot of pollution is caused by factories that make game consoles, smartphones, and other devices. The more people demand these devices, the more pollution there is. So, rather find a fun game to play that does not cause pollution! If all humans carry out just one of these tasks every day, humanity can make a difference for sure! If you love nature as much as Rose and I do, you’ll really enjoy her books about nature. You can visit her website to find out more about them. If you find one you like, please drop us a line telling us which is your favorite. You can do so on Facebook or Twitter, or you can write to me via my page, here on Rose’s site. Here’s wishing you an environmentally-friendly weekend ahead! Keep smiling, consider nature always, and stay magical! Sasha ~ The Lone Avocado TreeGood day, all! It's Thursday today and that means it's blog day for us! If you've not met me before, I am Sasha the tooth-fairy, AKA Rose's Little Helper. Today's blog is inspired by Rose's beautiful book 'The Simple Things Around Me.' The Simple Things Around Me is the first book in Rose's series, 'Life With Imani in Kenya'. In the story we walk with Imani and her mother to the village market. Along the way Imani notices life’s somewhat hidden happenings, and wonders how it would feel to be each of the phenomena she sees. Soon she realizes that these phenomena are very similar to the care her mother gives, that her love is as powerful yet as simple. And so she decides - if there’s one thing she really wants to be, it’s her mother; sharing love each day as easily as the simplest things go about theirs. One of the wonders she comes across on her walk with her mother is a Monarch Butterfly. And so, today we're going to share with you a few fun facts about Butterflies! Fun facts about Butterflies: 1 ~ Although many butterflies are small in comparison to flying animals like birds and bats, they can grow as large as twelve inches. 2 ~ Butterflies can’t see all the colors of the rainbow like we do. They can only see red, green and yellow. However, because they have as many as six-thousand lenses in their eyes, they can also see ultra-violet light. 3 ~ Some butterflies can fly as fast as twelve miles per hour. 4 ~ Butterflies live on all continents of the world except Antarctica. That’s because it’s simply too cold for them there. 5 ~ While it looks like butterflies only have two wings, one left and one right, they actually have four. They use their wings for flying and steering simultaneously. 6 ~ There are between fifteen and twenty thousand different types of butterflies on planet Earth. 7 ~ Monarch butterflies are very strong. They can fly as far as four-thousand kilometers and will do so to lay their eggs in the perfect environment. 8 ~ A large swarm of butterflies is known as a ‘flutter’. 9 ~ Butterfly wings are not colorful! In fact, their wings are made up of tiny hairs known as ‘scales’ arranged in specific ways to reflect certain colors in light. These scales are like dust to the touch. 10 ~ Butterflies don’t only get their food from flowers and plants; they also drink from mud puddles where they can absorb vital salts and minerals from the soil. Well, we hope we have made your day a little more beautiful, a little brighter, the way butterflies do. We truly do live on an amazing planet, with so many different kingdoms to explore. If you have any photos or stories about butterflies to share with us, we'd be really happy to receive them. You can drop me a line via my page on Rose's website, or you can post your story or photos on Rose's Facebook and Twitter pages. Until next week, don't forget the simple things around you!
