What Are Your Teeth Like? - series

Happy Thursday, all! Today is blog day, and so it's an opportunity for me to share a really great series of children's books with you, all of them written by Rose - of course! This series was the very first she ever created when she began writing books about teeth for children.

In this fully-rhyming series she has chosen four different animals with entirely different teeth than humans'. This, she felt, was a great way to incorporate her love for nature into her writing, and it also helps children to learn more about the animals chosen.

Let's take a closer look at them:

I Have Tusks And You Have Teeth, the first book in the series, sees a young boy meet with a Great African Elephant in the heart of the Savanna.

Told in rhyme, their chucklesome conversation paints a whole new picture for kids about just how unique their own (and Elephants') teeth are.

The story can be read aloud by parents or teachers, and also serves as great first-time reading material for young learners.
The Boy and the Big Blue Whale is the second book in the series. In the story, a young boy follows his dream and sails out into the ocean to meet a whale.

At first it seems his dream may not come true, but then suddenly, ‘kersplash’, a big Blue Whale torpedoes from the water and lands alongside him. The young boy learns more about the whale than he ever imagined would be true, as will young readers enjoying the exciting tale. This humorous and educational story with delightful illustrations is perfect for young readers wanting to learn about their teeth... and whales!

Bianca and the Busy Beaver is the third story in the series. In this playful, teaching, rhyming tale little Bianca decides to visit with the very busy beaver who lives in the river at the foot of the hill on which her home is built.

She’s so curious about the beaver’s oddly-orange-colored teeth, why he chooses to live in the river under water, and how he manages to build his home with such tiny little arms. Of course he has answers to all of her questions, and he tells her just why beavers have the teeth they do.

Her wondrous visit with the busy beaver reinforces her motivation for wanting to take care of her own teeth.

If I Were a Crocodile is the fourth rhyming story in the series. A young boy tells us how he thinks life would be if he were a crocodile. Interestingly enough, he finds the relationship between Plover birds and Crocodiles most fascinating, and uses this phenomenon to explain why he thinks brushing and flossing his own teeth in order to keep them clean is a more viable option!

With creative and colorful illustrations, this story can be read aloud to children by parents or teachers, or by children who are learning to read themselves.

What an awesome series, and the artwork is outstanding, too! The information can even be used for school projects like 'show and tell', and it certainly brings across the idea that humans and animals are different in many ways. However, the one thing that humans should never forget is that this planet is their home, too - Earth was not made just for people!

If you've read any of these books above, please drop us a line and tell us your thoughts. Rose and I both love hearing your opinions. You can message us on Facebook or Twitter.  You can also speak to Rose through her contact form, or to me via my page here on Rose's site.

Until next time, keep smiling,
stay magical,
Sasha ~
