Happy Thursday, all! Today is blog day, and we have prepared a special blog just for you! As you have seen, all of Rose’s books use rich colors – bright and cheerful – which makes the reading experience that much better. And this is one of the beautiful facts about life; we see everything in color. But, did you know that colors actually have an effect on our moods and feelings? They can even influence the daily decisions we make. This is more commonly referred to as ‘color therapy’ or ‘chromotherapy’.
Let’s take a look at the eight major colors and what they are capable of making us feel.
White is all colors in perfect balance and harmony. It is associated with innocence, purity, cleanliness, freshness, simplicity, oneness, completion and truth. It brings harmony to all aspects of one's life.
Often misunderstood, black is the color of the unknown, mystery, and unseen opportunities for new growth. Think of the darkness in the womb or the blackness of night. Black can give us time to work things out while feeling safe.
Red brings warmth, energy, and stimulation. It helps with fatigue and is good for those who are passive in nature. It energizes the heart, and is associated with courage, strength, and power.
Orange is cheerful and free, and therefore stimulates creative-thinking and enthusiasm, and helps us to be open-minded to new ways of thinking and acting.
Yellow is the color of the sun, life-force, vitality and energy. It can strengthen your mind and make you feel less-nervous of tasks you need to face in a day.
Green is the color of Nature and the Earth. It brings emotional harmony and balance. It can have both a soothing and calmly energizing effect.
Blue is cooling, electric, and can calm strong emotions like anger while bringing about tranquility. It is associated with speech and communication.
Purple is a purifying color that can help us to feel creative and see truths before untruths in life.
Wow – all of this is so inspiring! Who would have thought that colors can do these things? We have to wonder who created all of existence, don’t we – because they sure gave us the right tools to help us to live happy lives. So, the next time you feel something is amiss in your life, just choose the right color to wear and see how it makes you feel!
Take a look at Rose’s books here on her website, too, to see some of the bright illustrations. In fact, little Imani’s outfit – her orange dress with yellow dots – was specifically chosen by Rose, as was Banjo’s blue dungarees and all the outfits worn by the characters in her books.
Well, we hope you’ve enjoyed today’s blog!
Until next week, keep smiling,
